“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you"
Jeremiah 1:5
December – 2nd month
Merry Christmas from St. Mary’s Respect Life Ministry! As we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, please remember to pray for the pre-born baby you spiritually adopted in October. Your spiritually adopted child is now two months old in gestation and needs you to pray that his/her mother awaits the birth of her child with trust in God, just as Mary awaited the birth of her Son.
Please see the following text on the 2nd “Little One” poster in the vestibule of the church:
Second Month (size: about 2 inches)
The developing baby is now called a ‘fetus’ which is Latin for ‘Little One’. She is making rapid progress developing all her external and internal organs. During the second month baby teeth form; fingers and toes are developing. Ears, nose, lips and tongue can now be clearly seen. Brain waves can be recorded. The skeleton changes from cartilage to bone. Forty muscle sets begin their first exercises. This Little One can now suck her thumb. By 8 weeks all body systems are present.
Abortion is the most significant human rights abuse of our time.
“As our country continues to advance along the path to a more just society, we cannot ignore the discrimination that is taking place against vulnerable unborn babies who some view as “less than” others. In order to create a more just society, we must recognize that equality begins in the womb.”
The March for Life is an inspiring, peaceful, vibrant, and joy-filled rally of women, men, young people, and children from all across the country. Every year, tens of thousands of pro-lifers converge on the National Mall and march on Capitol Hill on the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling which legalized abortion in all 50 states. It’s the largest annual human rights demonstration in the world. But this is not just a protest… TOGETHER, WE GATHER TO CELEBRATE LIFE. We celebrate each and every life, from the moment of conception. We envision a world where every life is celebrated, valued, and protected.
“Reflection: An 11-ear old girl wrote recently: ‘My mother and I are taking a bus and will be coming to the March for Life. My teacher said that I will receive 0’s on any work that I miss and it can’t be made up. I told her missing a day at school in order to stand up for life is more important and I’m willing to suffer the consequences.’The Respect Life movement now has an international flag! Designed by a Brazilian artist, the flag features a whiNews / Eventste heart between a baby’s feet to illustrate love for both the mother and her unborn child. The white background represents the innocence of the unborn child. The pink and blue colors represent baby boys and girls, as well as the two distinct lives of mother and child and the important role of mothers and fathers in creating and raising a child. The new flag provides a unifying symbol for all those who seek to promote a culture of life.
God, Our Father, Giver of Life,
We entrust our nation to your loving care. You are the rock on which this nation was founded. You alone are the true Source of our cherished rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Reclaim this land for Your glory and dwell among Your people.
Send Your Spirit to touch the hearts of our nations's leaders. Open their minds to the great worth of human life and the responsibilities that accompany human freedom. Remind Your people that true happiness is rooted in seeking and doing Your will.
Through the intercession of Mary Immaculate, Patroness of our land, grant us the courage to reject the "culture of death." Lead us into a new millenium of life. We ask this through Christ, Our Lord.
Amen.
Hail Guardian of the Redeemer, spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary, to you God entrusted His only Son, in you Mary placed her trust, with you Christ became man, blessed Joseph to us, too, show yourself a father and guide us in the path of life. Obtain for us grace, mercy, and courage and defend us from every evil.
Amen.
