Through the proceeds from our fundraisers, the Belles of St. Mary are able to support a wide range of charitable causes, both within St. Mary's parish and throughout our surrounding community in Harford County and beyond. Our contributions help provide essential services to those in need, including the homeless, children, and families facing hardship.
Some of the key organizations and initiatives we support include:
Anna’s House (shelter for victims of domestic violence)
Annual School Supply Drive (providing school supplies for local children in need)
Annual Blanket Drive (gathering donations of blankets, clothing, and essentials for homeless shelters)
Giving Tree at Christmas (providing Christmas gifts for children in need)
Fishers of Men and Women (supporting men and women in crisis)
Operation Christmas Child (partnering with Samaritan’s Purse to send shoeboxes filled with gifts to children in need around the world)
Sewing Bee Ladies (creating items for those in need through our community sewing days)
Halloween Trunk or Treat (providing a safe and fun Halloween experience for local children)
Parish Needs (supporting various needs within St. Mary’s Church)
FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students) at Towson University (supporting Catholic students through fellowship and outreach)
Catholic Heart Workcamp (helping young people engage in service to those in need)
St. Mary’s Building Fund (contributing to the upkeep and improvement of our church facilities)
Miscellaneous Cash Donations (supporting various charitable causes as needs arise)
Father Shao (helping to support the education and formation of new priests in Africa)
Various Homeless Shelters (providing direct assistance to shelters in our community)
The Boy Scouts (supporting local Boy Scout projects and Eagle Scout achievements)
Scholarships (providing scholarships for students in need)
In addition to these ongoing efforts, the Belles also make contributions throughout the year as specific needs arise within the community.
Support for St. Mary’s Parish:
Since our founding, the Belles have been deeply committed to supporting St. Mary’s Church. Members Lois Fritz and Carla Markowski dedicated many hours sewing custom pew cushions for the church, and through the generous donations of parishioners, we were able to replace old metal folding chairs with new, comfortable cushioned ones. We have also provided funding for new candle holders, an Advent stand, and new robes and vestments for the priests.
