The Food Pantry is open on the third Saturday of the month, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon.
The pantry is not open in the months of Easter, Thanksgiving, & Christmas as St. Mary’s has the large food drives in those months.
In the past, the pantry has served between 3 and 21 families per month (about 11 on average recently), depending on the local economy. Our customers are grateful that the pantry is available.
The pantry is maintained by generous donations from the parishioners. Several times a year, we also receive very generous food donations from a local business (Curling Iron) and cash donations from another ministry at St. Mary’s (The Belles). In the past, we have received donations from the Knights of Columbus. We have also received cash donations from the parish. We have benefited from the Boy Scout Food Drives from the Jarrettsville area Boy Scout troops.
The pantry is located on the ground floor beneath the Church hall. It is accessed in the rear of the building. A few years ago, the area was renovated to allow much better storage for our groceries.
The food pantry volunteers work several Saturdays a year. If you are inspired to spare a few hours a year, we would love to have you join the food pantry group.
If you can only be a substitute we would be grateful!! If your children need volunteer hours for school, the customers always need help taking the grocery cart to their cars.
Please contact the office, if you are interested in joining our fulfilling ministry.
Thank you,
The Food Pantry ministry
